Me (Nadine Anderson) delivering baskets to a stockist in Ely

I am Nadine Anderson, a Basketmaker living in Cambridgeshire. It is 28 years since I wove my first basket and am proud to be a Yeoman Basketmaker to The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers.

My work is varied in techniques and design and I mostly weave in home grown willows and locally harvested rush. Many of my baskets acknowledge the traditional vernacular baskets of the Cambridgeshire fenland, such as the Oval willow Potato Cob, the plaited and stitched Rush Docky Bag, and the split willow Eel Hives long and slender with a definite waist. Other baskets resemble ancient artefacts such as the Rolling Rush Granary.

I teach workshops from my home studio in Wardy Hill, Ely and for organisations such as The Basketmakers Association, Ely Museum, The National Trust, Fitzwilliam Museum,The Worshipful Company of Basketmakers and for my friend Sue Kirk at her fabulous studio based in King’s Cliffe, near Peterborough.

Currently I sell direct from my studio, make to commission and have work at The Brett Gallery, Monks Eleigh, Suffolk. A small range of my work is also available on The Green Pebble online Artisan Marketplace.
